Dr. Swinburne (Jason) Augustine is an accomplished scientist specializing in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Genetics. He recently retired as a Principal Investigator at the United States Environmental Protection Agency and was the lead researcher in the development of a rapid, noninvasive, cost-effective salivary antibody multiplex immunoassay to measure human exposure to environmental pathogens. He is a member of the American Association of Immunologists (AAI) – serving as a member of the AAI Membership Committee and the Public Communications Committee. He is also a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the Society for Global Health, and the East Coast Chapter Tuskegee Airmen Inc. Dr. Augustine is the recipient of numerous national and international awards including EPA Superior Achievement Award, EPA Scientific and Technological Achievement Award Level II, EPA Bronze Medal for Commendable Service, EPA Shooting Stars Award, and the Institute for Caribbean Studies Outstanding Contribution to Public Health Award, among others. He also received the distinguished Federal Government Large-scale Exceptional Service Award COVID-19 Response for deploying to Washington State and Arizona in support of President Joe Biden’s National COVID-19 Response. Dr. Augustine is also a decorated veteran, nurse and former police officer, and news reporter/broadcaster in his native Dominica.
